Deflated Ego

Deep in my sleep in the middle of night -

When I was asked to put on harness

 Firmament wearing galaxy of stars

Did appear steely still while

Surround on earth, draped

in new moon darkness !!

Anxious kins implored not to go out-

Lest I lose way through the forest,

I bragged of a little lamp in hand

And assured that it could take me to the next !!!

 

I stepped out with the little lamp glowing-

In the open, it emerged brighter and brighter,

 Still, amidst the imposing darkness, it appeared teeming-

And created a mesmerizing invisibility near and far !!!!

 

As I shifted gear in defiance-

The breeze around, made the poor lamp shiver,

Leading me to stumble at each pace;

And finally to see myself in totters!!!!!

 

I fell off the straddles-

Hitting head against branch of a tree,

The little lamp went off my grips,

And lay amidst the ruins of leaves!!!!!!

 

When I regained senses,

I found myself drifted far-

The little lamp put out,

And darkness still deeper!!!!!!!

 

I put down my head in shame-

Losing all my might to take on the fight,

I was distraught from within-

And lost all hopes to survive!!!!!!!!

 

At this moment of despair-

One emerged gradually in sight,

I looked up to discover-

It's none other than Him- the Ever Delight ..........
